I am married with three grown-up children and five grandchildren. Family is very important to me and spending time with them makes me happy.<\/h6>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

The first time I attended a Celebrant led wedding was when my son got married to his lovely wife in Thailand. (They live in Australia) It was a glorious venue and very beautiful and the Celebrant used a sandbox which was new to\n me as I had only ever attended church weddings before and it really opened my eyes as to the difference between the two. Instead of a standardized service a couple can make their own vows and incorporate anything they want into\n the ceremony such as a sandbox or handfasting.<\/p>\n

For some reason I kept reading articles in magazines about people who had become Celebrants and they were all really happy with their choice of career.   When the business I had collapsed during and because of covid\n I had to think of something else to do and decided to train as a Celebrant and attained a Distinction in my Diploma from The Regent Academy.<\/p>\n

For years I had accumulated poetry and adages and filled a couple of hand-written books with them and am now in the process of typing them all up into a file in case a client wishes to use any of them.<\/p>\n

Working with couples and families to create their special memories is such a privilege and I love every aspect of it.<\/p>\n

Lastly, I also do Naming Ceremonies.  Churchgoers have Christenings where babies are baptised into their faith in front of their friends and family and have Godparents and this is a secular equivalent. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Celebrant or Registrar?<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Both a registrar and a Celebrant want you to enjoy your ceremony but what they offer is very different.<\/p>\n

A Registrar is employed by the local authority and is able to perform the legal <\/strong>part of a marriage ceremony.\n
 \n
The service must be held in a licensed area.<\/p>\n

Registrars usually perform several ceremonies a day so you are given a time slot and you will probably not meet the Registrar before the day.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

The format and content of the ceremony is dictated by legislation and no religious or spiritual content can be included. \n
\n
Any readings must be seen and approved before the ceremony.<\/p>\n

An independent Celebrant is self-employed\n
and is unable to perform the legal <\/strong>part of\n
the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Some couples choosing a Celebrant-led wedding tend to get the legal part out of the way a few days before, leaving them free to enjoy their wedding day as they truly want it. This can give them more days of celebrations. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
